2025 Public Art Walking Tour Registration
The Wentworth Residents’ Association was a recipient of the Calgary Arts Development (CAD) Community-Run Public Art Microgrant Program. CAD recognizes that impactful public art often begins with grassroots ideas, this program encourages community-led organizations to create public art in collaboration with local artists in Calgary. You may read more about this program, including how other recipients used their grants on the CAD website.
With a vision to brighten their neighborhood and uplift the community, the WRA Board of Directors sought to bring more color and creativity to their streets. Recognizing a need for public art, local artist Fatima Amir (aka Amirals Strokes) was commissioned to transform ordinary utility boxes into vibrant, thought-provoking works of art — each one designed to bring joy, inspire, and remind everyone of the hope and positivity that exists in the community. The designs selected depict the beauty of Alberta’s natural landscape that bring a feeling of peace and tranquility to all.
Now that the project has been completed, the WRA Board would like to invite all interested residents to join a few board members as well as the Artist to go on an Art Walk of the four boxes on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at 2:30pm. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the four boxes alongisde the artist and learn her vision behind each of the images as well as ask any questions they may have. The 1.4 km walk is estimated to last approximatley 90 minutes.
Please register below so we know how many people to expect, but also so we can communicate any changes should the weather be unfavourable.
